PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize both-face printing with reference to a one-face document with a simple constitution, dispensing with a mechanism of reversing a document and a printing paper. PSOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 100, a pair of one-face documents set on an automatic document feeder is taken in, and only the one sheet of the one-face documents is read and the one-face is printed on the printing paper 100. The other one-face document is not read, and idly transported and not printed. The aforesaid process is performed for the odd-numbered pages of the document to accomplish the one-face printing. Thereafter, the printing papers are set again, and the even-numbered pages of the document not read yet are read and printed in the same way. In this case, only the other one-face document not read yet is read and printed. Then, both-face printing with reference to the one-face document is performed at a low cost and with a simple constitution without installing a special transport mechanism for an automatic both-face printing function.
