PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forming material which can be relatively easily formed into an inorganic hydrophilic hard layer maintaining an antifogging effect of a long period and to provide a method for forming an inorganic hydrophilic hard layer on the surface of a lens by using the above material.;SOLUTION: The forming material of an inorganic hydrophilic hard layer for a lens contains a plurality of hexafluoro metal acid salts which crystallize on the lens surface by trapping at least a part of fluorine atoms and form an inorganic hydrophilic hard layer containing titanium oxide. The plurality of hexafluoro metal acid salts contain hexafluoro titanate and a hexafluoro metal acid salt which can form a photocatalyst suppressing component against the photocatalytic effect of the titanium oxide produced by the hexafluoro titanate. The method for forming the hydrophilic hard layer for a lens is carried out by using the above forming material of an inorganic hydrophilic hard layer for a lens. Therefore, an inorganic hydrophilic layer having excellent hydrophilicity can be formed on the lens surface, and thereby, dirt can be removed by washing with water and excellent antifogging property can be imparted to the lens.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
