PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a displacement vector distribution that occurred in three, two, or one dimensional region of interest for an object of measurement with high accuracy and to estimate a mechanical characteristics distribution accurately with use of it.;SOLUTION: In the case that a supersonic wave is radiated to a region of interest (7) of an object of measurement (6) with time interval, an ultrasonic echo signal that occurs from the object of measurement is obtained, and a local displacement is measured based on a slope for a cross spectrum phase of the ultrasonic echo signal that is obtained at the second phase, it is characterized by that the slope for the cross spectrum phase is measured by a cross correlation method based on the ultrasonic echo signal obtained at the second phase. Alternatively, the displacement distribution in the region of interest is measured by applying the least square with a square of the cross spectrum that is normalized by the power of the cross spectrum being weighting factor, by adding a specific prospective information regarding a spatial continuity or potential differentiation about displacement distribution in the region of interest with use of normalization.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
