PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic particle powder for a magnetic recording medium which is capable of suppressing the formation of the cyclohexanone dimer in a magnetic coating material or nonmagnetic coating material in manufacturing the magnetic recording medium, a filler material and nonmagnetic particle powder. SOLUTION: The surface reforming magnetic particle powder, the surface reforming filler material and the surface reforming nonmagnetic particle powder are respectively the surface reforming particle powders formed by depositing silane monomers on the surfaces of the respective particles by wet process mixing of the magnetic particle powders, the filler materials and the nonmagnetic particle powders with the silane monomers. This magnetic recording medium contains such surface reforming particle powder.
