DYNAMIC INPUT STAGE BIAS FOR LOW QUIESCENT CURRENT AMPLIFIER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic input stage bias for a low quiescent current amplifier.;SOLUTION: An amplifier having a dynamic input stage bias to be used for a regulator circuit or another amplification is provided with an input stage operatively connected to the input of the amplifier. A controlled current source connected to the input stage is made correspond to a control signal for at least partially controlling input bias current generated by the controlled current source. The amplifier is further provided with a sense circuit operatively connected in a feedback configuration between the controlled current source and the output of the amplifier. The sense circuit measures the output load current of the amplifier, and generates a control signal in response thereto, whereby the input bias current is turned to be the function of the output load currents of the amplifier. Thus, a parasitic pole associated with the amplifier is pushed out in a frequency so as to be provide superior amplifier stability while dissipating low quiescent current particularly at a low output load current level.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
