PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for grasping a spatial distribution of rainfall in a mountainous region, and estimating a distribution of the amount of the rainfall. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with a rainfall vertical distribution measuring means for measuring a vertical distribution of the rainfall by a radar loaded on a satellite, a rainfall intensity output means for outputting the rainfall intensity R estimated as a linear function of the height H; R(H)= a.H+b, and a parameter evaluation operation means for identifying parameters a, b in the estimation expression of the rainfall intensity by regression analysis by using measured values acquired by the rainfall vertical distribution measuring means. Hereby, when estimating the rainfall intensity R as the linear function of the height H; R(H)=a.H+b, the parameters a, b are identified by the regression analysis by using the vertical distribution of the rainfall determined by the radar loaded on the satellite.
