PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure an India ink amount by eliminating an influence of absorbing a reference light when an India ink thin film containing carbon and on an ink supply roll surface obtained by emulsifying a dampening water is measured in offset printing.;SOLUTION: A method for measuring the India ink amount for the printer comprises the steps of emitting an infrared ray to the India ink film 50 obtained by emulsifying the dampening water on an ink supply roller 20 surface, and measuring the India ink amount on the ink supply roll 20 surface of the printer, and obtaining the value P obtained based on reflecting ray amount obtained by irradiating the India ink film of the ink supply roll 20 surface of the printer with the infrared rays L, M and N, wherein L is the infrared ray in an infrared ray range showing an absorbance peak to the ink, N is the infrared ray showing a small absorbance to the water or the ink in a longer wavelength side than the ray L, and M is the infrared ray showing a small absorbance to the water or the ink, as the India ink amount.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
