PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying whether or not to have a genetic predisposition influencing on susceptibility to oxidative stress-related diseases and a reagent for the identification.;SOLUTION: The inventors examined relationship between newly found polymorphism in the promoter region of HO-1 and ischemic heart diseases being the oxidative stress-related diseases. As a result, having a genetic predisposition susceptible to the oxidative stress-related diseases in found when the polymorphism is detected in only one allele or is not detected in both alleles, and having a genetic predisposition difficult to be susceptible to the diseases is found when the polymorphism is detected in both alleles. Consequently, it is possible to identify whether or not to have the genetic predisposition influencing the susceptibility to the oxidative stress-related diseases by analyzing the polymorphism in the promoter region of the HO-1 gene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
