PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizer which realizes reduction in loads on sterilization work and a shortening in time of the cycle thereof. PSOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a chamber 4 in which a material 2 to be sterilized is housed and sterilized by a high pressure/high temperature steam and a cooling means (a cooling gas 30 and a cooling gas injection port 31) which cools the material 4 to be sterilized being thermally isolated from the inside of the chamber 4.
