摘要
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce highly pure ferroboron using inexpensive, mass-produced steel instead of expensive electrolytic iron as an iron source, by reducing its C content while increasing a B recovery rate from a boron source.;SOLUTION: An oxygen gas is blown to a molten metal of the ferroboron at ≥1,600°C for decarburization. Here, the molten metal may be one obtained through smelting reduction in an electric furnace or through remelting of solid ferroboron and preferably having a B content of ≤10 mass%. Preferably, mass- produced steel having an Al content of ≤0.03 mass% obtained in converters, electric furnaces, etc., is used as the iron source. In a process for producing a mother alloy, a diluted iron source and auxiliary materials are added to the obtained ferroboron to adjust its composition. Preferably, the diluted iron source is mass-produced steel having an Al content of ≤0.006 mass% obtained in converters or electric furnaces. In a process for producing an iron-based amorphous alloy, a molten metal of the obtained mother alloy is cast through rapid solidification.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
