PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To communicate in a desirable type of media data by instantaneous switching.;SOLUTION: A data transmitter 4 can transmit media data via only one logical path at a time, but requires a data receiver 2 to set three different types of logical paths 3a to 3c of a transmission capacity or over to set the three logical paths 3a to 3c to the data receiver 2. In the data transmitter 4, a multiple path setting switching part 42 selects one type of media data from an information generation source 41 and switches to one of the logical paths 3a to 3c corresponding to the selected media data to transmit them, and simultaneously notifies the data receiver 2 of the used logical path. When the data receiver 2 is notified of the used logical path, a multiple path setting switching part 22 switches to the logical path according to the notification, and a decoder 21 decodes the media data from the data transmitter 4 via the logical path.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
