PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for height adjusting operation by decreasing the number of components and simplifying them and to improve playing performance and outward appearance design. PSOLUTION: A tremolo mechanism 25 is arranged on the surface of a guitar main body 2. The tremolo mechanism 25 comprises a bridge base 33 and a bridge saddle 36 and is so held that the moment MSB1/SBby the tension TSB1/SBof a string 5 balances with the rotational moment MSB2/SBby the spring force TSB2/SBof a balance spring 4; and the bridge base 33 is swung with a tremolo arm 7 to repeatedly vary the tension of the spring 5 in short cycles. The top surface 33a of the bridge base 33 is curved convexly to a specified radius R of curvature at right angles to the string tensing direction to nearly comply with the surface of a finger plate. The bridge saddle 36 is mounted on the top surface 33a of the bridge base 33 and coupled with a fitting part 43 provided on the reverse surface side of a plate 33A with an octave adjusting screw 11.
