AUTOMATIC CHARGE COLLECTION SYSTEM OF TOLL ROAD FOR REALIZING TOLL PREPAYMENT AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To introduce a prepayment system in an ETC system which does not require stopping of a vehicle at a toll gate and lengthening of an island of the toll gate.;SOLUTION: The prepayment system is provided with: a storage part 15 for storing a credit card number to be used for settlement of a toll of a toll road; a prepaid balance/use history storage part 17 for storing the prepaid balance information of the toll associated with the credit card number; a toll calculation part of an automatic charging system 1 for receiving vehicle family information and the credit card number from a vehicle 2 and calculating the toll for the vehicle; and a toll settlement processing part of a prepayment management part 12 for settling the toll by subtracting the toll from the prepaid balance. The toll settlement processing part settles the shortfall or the entire amount of the toll by using a credit card when the prepaid balance is smaller than the toll or no prepaid balance is left.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
