PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily forming a database used for book retrieval in a library book stock retrieval system using a communication network. PSOLUTION: A management server 10 includes a book database 11 storing an ISBN (international standard book number) code and book information including a book name specified thereby, and a book stock database 12 for storing an ISBN code and book stock information including a library name of the owner of the book specified thereby. The management server 10 receives book information retrieval data including an ISBN code and the library name of the owner of the book specified thereby from a library terminal 20, retrieves the book information related to the book specified by the ISBN code from the book database 11, transmits the book information obtained by retrieval to the library terminal 20, and registers the ISBN code included in the book information retrieval data in association with the library name of the owner of the book concerned in the book stock database 12.
