PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To return a structure to performance in design by removing residual stress due to uneven displacement and remolding it so as not to produce influence of the residual stress in the case that foundation of the tower-like steel structure is moved due to damage of an earthquake or the like and the residual stress due to the uneven displacement is produced in a structural material. ;SOLUTION: In the method in a member producing the residual stress by receiving the uneven displacement in the tower-like steel structure composed of a steel material, a unit attaching hole is drilled in the upper and lower ends of a main column material of an arbitrary panel to join a unit to the hole with bolts, and both the ends of a support bar joining a steel pipe and a jack in the longitudinal direction and the unit are joined. A plurality of holes are drilled in a main column material center flange part sandwiched between the units, and one-sided flange of the main column material is cut while the jack attached to the support bar is adjusted and stress acting on the main column material is moved on the support bar.
