PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser optical system for laser Compton scattering X-ray and a X-ray generator using the laser optical system having improved X-ray generation efficiency.;SOLUTION: Laser beam 24 from a laser light source 21 passing a half mirror 25 is reflected by an asymmetrical mirror 26. The reflected light enters in an accelerator 23, passes a straight line electronic beam path 28, and collides head-on with an electron beam e-. Laser beam irradiated from the accelerator 23 is reflected by a first mirror 29, and enters back into the accelerator 23, passes the straight line electronic beam path 28, and exits from the accelerator 23 to be reflected by the asymmetrical mirror 26. The reflected light is reflected by the half mirror 25, and then by a second mirror 30 so as to go back and forth a plurality of times along light paths 24-1 to 24-4, 28 passing the half mirror 25, the asymmetrical mirror 26, the accelerator 23 and the first mirror 29, and repeatedly collide head-on into the electronic beam e-. A scattering cross-sectional area is thus increased so as to improve the X-ray generation efficiency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
