PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method wherein the position of an optical system can be adjusted easily even in the case of using a light-scattering method, a measurement can be performed smoothly and surely and a change in the absolute value of an air bubble diameter limited only by a direct photographing operation with a video camera in conventional cases can be measured with high accuracy. ;SOLUTION: The cavitation-air-bubble observation apparatus which observes the behavior of cavitation air bubbles generated in a liquid by ultrasonic waves is provided with an ultrasonic cell 2, a vibrator 3, a stroboscopic light source 41, a signal generation means 6 which vibrates the vibrator 3 so as to make the light source 41 emit light, a laser light source 42 which emits a laser beam scattered by the air bubbles in the ultrasonic cell 2 so as to become scattered light, an optical system 7, a light branching means 8 by which the light emitted from the light source 41 and the scattered light are branched into mutually different directions, an imaging means 5 which receives the light emitted from the light source 41 so as to be imaged and an air- bubble-diameter measuring means 9 which receives the scattered light so as to measure the air bubble diameter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
