HEATER UNIT FOR PLANAR LIGHTWAVE CIRCUIT COMPONENT, AND PLANAR LIGHTWAVE CIRCUIT PACKAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater unit for a PLC(planar lightwave circuit) component which uniformly heat the PLC component 20 at a constant temperature with little temperature distribution and prevents the deterioration of optical properties, and to provide a PLC package. ;SOLUTION: The heater unit is provided with a soaking board 10 consisting of a highly thermally-conductive material having a recessed part, a heater part 11 which placed in the recessed part and whose bottom end surface is thermally in contact with the bottom surface of the recessed parts, and temperature sensors 12a and 12b embedded in the recessed part. The soaking board 10 has a first projected part which has a first flat upper end surface 10a, and a second projected part which has a second flat upper end surface 10b on the same level as that of the first upper end surface 10a. The first and second projected parts are connected each other by connection region 10c exposed at the bottom surface of the recessed part so as to form the recessed part in between. The upper end surface 11a of a heater part 11 is the flat surface of the substantially same level as that of the first and second upper end surfaces 10a and 10b.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
