PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rosin multivalent metal salt-treated azo lake pigment that can give a colored coat having a smaller yield value than ever, an excellent flow property and a high gloss.;SOLUTION: The rosin multivalent metal salt-treated azo lake pigment is characterized in that the pigment has a ratio of the length to the width of, on the average, from 1:1 to 2:1; the process for the preparation of the rosin multivalent metal salt-treated azo lake pigment is characterized by pouring both an aqueous solution containing a coupler component and a diazonium salt component into a suspension liquid of a rosin multivalent metal salt, by carrying out a coupling reaction in the presence of particulates of the rosin multivalent metal salt and by practicing the lake formation; and the printing ink comprises a resin and the rosin multivalent metal salt-treated azo lake pigment which pigment has a ratio of the length to the width of, on the average, from 1:1 to 2:1, and has a bulkiness of, on the average, 0.8 to 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
