PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a newly enhanced micro-actuator to perform a fine positioning of a magnetic read/write head for tracking control. ;SOLUTION: A tongue 48 of a flexure 40 substantially has a rectangular shape and is placed at a front area of the flexure 40. The flexure tongue 48 is formed by two narrow gaps 84, 86 and has two hinge islands 80, 82 thereby being separated from the main body of the flexure tongue 48. The micro- actuator comprised of a piezoelectric motor 60 fitted to the flexure tongue 48 with offsetting hinges performs a fine positioning of the magnetic read/write head 35.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
