PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building interior face base material for generating negative ions using weathered coral, and an application method.;SOLUTION: Sand-like weathered coral grain C containing salt is put in a vacuum tank AT. A wash water supply valve V1 is closed, and a vacuum valve V2 is opened to actuate a vacuum pump P. Air in the coral grain C in the vacuum tank AT is thereby removed to create a vacuum. When the vacuum is created in the vacuum tank AT, the vacuum valve V2 is closed and the wash water supply valve V1 is opened to supply wash water W in a fresh water tank WT into the vacuum tank AT. When a prescribed quantity of wash water W is supplied into the vacuum tank AT, the wash water supply valve V1 is closed, and an air vent valve V3 of the vacuum tank AT is slowly opened to gradually lower the degree of vacuum. When air pressure becomes almost the same as outside air pressure, a lid of the vacuum tank A is opened to take out the coral grain C.
