PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe to be inserted in the body cavity and equipped with a member for supporting the probe with the leading and basic edges as well as a piezoelectric transducer element installed in the forefront of the supporting member in relation with the rectal probe for treatment assembled with the probe for producing images, where the front radiation area of the piezoelectric transducer element becomes largest when the member for supporting the probe is inserted in the body cavity.;SOLUTION: The piezoelectric transducer element 120 is nearly circular in its shape, irradiates a region with ultrasonic waves for the treatment when focussed thereon and has a circular shape front that regulates a radiation surface parallel with the vertical axis, where the cross-sectional dimension parallel with the vertical axis of the piezoelectric transducer element 120 is larger than the right-angled cross-sectional dimension against the vertical axis, while the forefront of the member for supporting the probe 130 is similar to the cross-sectional shape of the piezoelectric transducer element 120 and has the maximum circumferential dimension less than that of the body cavity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
