PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light reflection sheet which is necessary for realizing an optical system provided with optical characteristics sufficient to be used as a backlight of a large sized liquid crystal display device is of high quality and is easily manufactured and a method for efficiently manufacturing the same at a low cost and in large quantities and to provide a surface light source device and a liquid crystal display device with the optical system with simple structure and being excellent in illumination efficiency by using the light reflection sheet. SOLUTION: The light reflection sheet 27 is formed by aligning a number of nearly identical and/or near similar basic units 28 consisting of inclined light reflection surfaces with =5,000 μm pitch and is characterized by being constructed with two layers consisting of a surface layer 33 comprising at least the basic units 28 formed thereon and a rear side surface supporting layer 34 supporting the surface layer 33 and having the rear side surface supporting layer 34 consisting of a biaxially stretched thermoplastic resin film.
