PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simulation method which makes it possible to accurately estimate the deterioration of the activity of a hydrorefining catalyst due to the deposition of metal without using any special catalyst evaluation technique.;SOLUTION: In evaluating a catalyst, (a) the reaction rate constant of each refining object component, obtained from a change in concentration of each refining object component in a hydrocarbon oil and (b) the concentrations of refining object metal components contained in the catalyst at two or more different places at two or more times in a reactor are measured, and the measurements are applied to a numerical formula model, in which the reaction rate of each refining object component changes based on the concentration of the refining object metal component contained in the catalyst, to extract a deterioration function parameter. The numerical formula model using the deterioration function parameter is used to calculate the rate of reaction of each refining object component in hydrorefining and the change in the refining object metal component contained in the catalyst with time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
