PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spread foundation construction, such as a steel construction building, capable of realizing the reduction in the amount of excavation by thinning the foundation, simplification of form assembling work and the simplification of reinforcing construction, and shortening the term of works.;SOLUTION: A foundation construction 1, capable of exhibiting both the function of the foundation slab and the floor slab, is formed by one sheet of mat shape locating the top surface 1a above ground GL. This slab is deliberately not provided with a reinforcing beam projected upward or a foundation beam forming a margin portion, and a steel column 3 is directly attached to a mat 1, stresses imposed on the foundation resisted by a sheet of mat spreading as a plane, and a load in the vertical directions is made transmittable to the ground via the mat surface. Although the whole mat may have the same thickness, surrounding of column 1b or the like can be protruded and the other portion can be made to a base-shaped foundation with the other portion made thinner.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
