PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image gray level nonuniformity detecting method capable of coping with all of nonuniformities in kind and size, requiring no long time for analyzing an image, and having no fear of erroneous detection.;SOLUTION: In this image gray level nonuniformity detecting method, a monochromatic gray image obtained by photographing an inspection object is analyzed, a contraction image different in a contraction scale such as 1/2 and 1/4 from an original image is obtained with the monochromatic gray image as the original image, an unsharp image of the original image and the respective contraction images is made, a difference image between the respective images and the unsharp image corresponding to the respective images in made, the respective difference images are binarized by a dot having luminance exceeding a threshold value by a comparison with the luminance threshold value set with respective difference images and a dot other than the dot, an original binary image and respective contraction binary images are made by taking into consideration an area threshold value, the respective contraction binary images are mapped on the original binary image as the theoretical sum, all kinds and the nonuniformity 5 of the size are specified, and are set as detecting image ID of image gray level nonuniformity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
