PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road map display device and a road map display method which enable a user to to change the display mode according to the individual attribute such as the type of each road and the background or the road width. ;SOLUTION: The road map display device or the road map display method for reading out road map data out of a road map data storage medium with road map data previously stored and displaying a desired road map on a display section is provided with a means to change the display mode according to each attribute including the type of the road and/or the background to be displayed.
