PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FBG strain sensor which is easily fixed on an object to be measured and eliminates the need for complex correction calculation and a particular optical fiber, and to provide a method for measuring the strain.;SOLUTION: The method is provided with a first mounting plate 1 having sections for being fixed on the object to be measured T on a plurality of positions in the strain measuring direction, a first FBG 6 being fixed on the first mounting plate 1 along the strain measuring direction, a second mounting plate 11 having a coefficient of linear expansion equal to that of the object to be measured, and a second FBG 16 being fixed along the direction of linear expansion of the second mounting plate 11. A value of the thermal expansion of the object to be measured T and a value of the thermal characteristic of the FBG that are contained in the variation of wavelength of reflecting light in the first FBG 6 are corrected using the variation of wavelength of reflecting light in the second FBG 16.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
