PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error evaluation method to evaluate the degree of errors in the stress intensity factor which is obtained by analysis done only once, eventually, enables the calculation of the highly precise stress intensity factor in a short time. ;SOLUTION: On the polar coordinates (r, θ), wherein let the head of the crack as origin, upper and down face of the crack be (θ=±π), the finite element method analysis is performed by applying singular elements which are positioned around the crack, obtaining the displacement U (r, θ), V (r, θ)of the nodal points on the singular elements in x,y axes directions respectively, acquiring necessary stress intensity factor from formula (1) by applying the nodal displacement, the error contained in the necessary stress intensity factor which is obtained by formula (1) is evaluated by the formula (2).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
