PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network, in which the number of entries to a filtering database of a bridge is reduced. ;SOLUTION: Areas S1-Sn indicate the domains of a subnet which is defined by optionally dividing a SONET/SDH network 100. GFP(generic framing procedure) bridge units 1-1 to 1-5 have the function of switching a GFP frame, and BID (bridge identification information) attached to them indicates a unique bridge identification number in subnet domains (area S1-Sn), the unique identification number is attached to bridge ports P1-Pk in the bridges, and an in-network MAC address is assigned to each port.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
