The medicamentous form of porphyrin photosensibilizer, produced by the inventive method, is used in medicine as a photodiagnostical and phototherapeutic means in malignant and benignant diseases. The method is exceptionally simplified, having the facility of reproducing the content of the individual components and preserve the high activity of the product for an unlimited time under normal storage conditions. By the method synthesis conditions are set wherein maximum conversion of the initial chaematoporphirin occurs into active components of the photosensibilizer, by making use of aqueous solution of sodium base for the neutralization of the produced mixture. It is filtered under vacuum and is washed in water to the required pH. The esterified mixture is treated in a mixture with aqueous basic solution and is neutralized to pH 7.0-7.4 by an acidic solution. The hydrolysate produced is stabilized and is freeze-dried in sterile vials to stable sterile powder. The powder is dissolved and is brought to the required volume by a sterile normal physiological solution immediately before its administration in the patient's organism. 1 claim, 3 figures
