The data / charge card comprises (a) a first data storage medium for storing information including stored biometric identification information of the cardholder; (b) a second data storage medium capable of being repeatedly written; and (c) a verification set comprising: (i) a power source for supplying power to the verification set; (ii) a biometric verification interface for entering temporary biometric identification information, temporary biometric information is stored in the second data storage medium; and (iii) a processor for comparing stored biometric information and temporary biometric information, such that in the case of a positive match, the processor authorizes the use of the data / load card.
