The cutting mechanism incorporates a square blade stub holder that is axially adjustable and supports a shortened cutting blade. The axial adjustment allows uniform contact of the cutting mechanism blades with the surface of an associated extruder die. A shorter blade, together with the adjustable mechanism for contact with the die face, prevents the cutting blade from tilting, and thus ensures the precise cutting action required to maintain the integrity of the product shape.
