A catalytic material for plasma-assisted treatment of exhaust gases from internal combustion engines consisting of an activated alumina containing silver or molybdenum (MoO ~ 3 ~) is disclosed. For silver-induced alumina, a preferred silver concentration is between 0.1% and 5% by weight. Also disclosed are the preparation and use of silver-induced alumina material.
