The detection system comprises a meter housing with scanning units and a unit rotatable in relation to the housing. The housing has a through going passage (3) through which the fluid flows. The rotatable unit (13) has several metallic elements, and on rotation the unit passes the scanning elements to activate them. The rotatable unit is disk shaped, with one flat end placed parallel with the longitudinal surface of the meter housing and opposite the passage. The scaning units are three Hall elements (5). The metallic element comprises four magnets (14) mounted on the unit in an alternating north south sequence. The scanning elements are located in a recess in the meter housing.
