A motor fuel comprises hydrocarbon compounds and/or organic compounds containing bound oxygen, which constitutes a stable homogeneous liquid at atmospheric pressure and normal ambient temperature and achieves a reduction of harmful pollutants in the exhaust emissions of diesel engines by adding organic compounds containing bound oxygen to the fuel composition.
