PRODUCTION OF RECOMBINANT HUMAN LACTOFERRIN IN FUNGAL CELLS

A process for producing human lactoferrin comprising the steps of: (1) transforming an Aspergillus cell with an expression vector that comprises a fungal promoter operably linked to a polydeoxyribonucleotide sequence, said polydeoxyribonucleotide comprising a secretory signal sequence fused in-frame to a polynuncleotide that codes for a human lactoferrin protein; (2) culturing the transformed Aspergillus cell in a suitable nutrient medium until the human lactoferrin protein is formed and secreted; (3) isolating the secreted human lactoferrin protein from said medium; and optionally (4) deglycosylating the human lactoferrin protein.
