An apparatus operable to record a spatially low-frequency heterodyne hologram including spatially heterodyne fringes for Fourier analysis, and apparatus comprising: a laser (210); a beamsplitter (240) optically coupled to said laser; a reference beam mirror (290) optically coupled to said beamsplitter for forming an object and a reference beam; an object (260) optically coupled to said beamsplitter; a focusing lens (270), optically coupled to both said reference beam mirror and said object; a digital recorder optically coupled to said focusing lens; and means for performing a Fourier transform, applying a digital filter, and performing an inverse Fourier transform, wherein the reference beam (280) is incident upon said reference beam mirror at a non-normal angle, said reference beam and the object beam (250) are focused by said focusing lens at a focal plane of said digital recorder to form a spatially low- frequency heterodyne hologram including spatially heterodyne fringes for Fourier analysis which is recorded by said digital recorder; and wherein said means is adapted to transform axes of said recorded spatially low-frequency heterodyne hologram including spatially heterodyne fringes in Fourier space to sit on top of a heterodyne carrier frequency defined by an angle between said reference beam and said object beam and adapted to cut off signals around an original origin before performing said inverse Fourier transform. 1901 כ' באלול התשס" ג - September 17, 2003
