Automotive vehicle seat occupancy status classification method characterized in that filtered class is associated to specific seat occupancy status based on successive readings of parameter value of seat occupancy sensor
The method is characterized in that a filtered class is associated to a specific seat occupancy status based on a number of successive readings of at least one parameter value of a seat occupancy sensor. The method comprise the steps of: (1) determining an actual value of a first parameter of the seat occupancy sensor and associating an actual class to the actual value of the first parameter; (2) storing the actual class in a buffer comprising several previously determined classes; (3) plotting a confidence parameter, which is indicative of the reliability of the actual class; and (4) setting an updated filtered class to equal: (1) an average of the classes stored in the buffer, if the confidence parameter is smaller than a first confidence threshold value; and (2) the previously determined filtered class, if the confidence parameter is greater than the first confidence threshold value. The updated filtered class is set to equal the previously determined filtered class, if the confidence parameter is equal to the first confidence threshold value.
