The fall-breaking device works with a catchment tray (1) for the receipt of a large number of products which fall from the end of an endless conveyor belt (2) running over rollers (3). In order to minimize the fall height (H) and also to absorb more effectively the kinetic energy of the falling products (4), a fall-breaking device is installed in the direction of fall and comprises a plate-shaped component (5) on which are a large number of flexible, extending sprung-elastic fibers (6). The fall-breaking device is preferably inclinedly positioned in the fall direction in the catchment tray and is movable in relation to the tray, executing a translating movement parallel to the bottom (1a) of the tray.
