Modern gas appliances have air intake controls, operated by electrical signals. As the volume of air used is related to the volume of gas used, the state of an air inlet valve or rotation speed of a fan can be directly analogous to the gas flow rate. The present meter integrates the signal to the valve or fan to produce a signal related to volume of air and hence gas used.
