The invention concerns an appliance to digitise curved or plane surfaces. The appliance is based on a flatbed scanner where provisions are foreseen for instance to digitise the form of a foot-sole. Herewith is a structure that is foreseen with an elastic film with a line pattern where the film is pressed against the to be digitised object. The surface of the object is scanned while the scan is divided in strips by a number of prisms which are placed onto the scan head. The prisms causes a movement of the image through what the distance between scan head and object can be calculated. A version of the invention concerns an appliance to scan where plural or adjustable optics cause the image shift.
