Methods for controlling or treating helminth and arthropod endoparasite or ectoparasite insect infection by oral, topical or transdermal means

A method for increasing the efficacy of a monocyclic lactone compound against a resistant crop pest is described. The method comprises application of a pesticidal enhancing effective amount of a multidrug resistance reversing (MDR) agent and the monocyclic lactone compound, wherein the multidrug resistance reversing agent is selected from the group consisting of a calcium channel blocker, a calmodulin antagonist, a vinca alkaloid analogue, a steroidal agent, a hormonal agent, an immunosuppressive agent, an antibiotic and dispyridamole. Also described is a method for increasing the efficacy of a monocyclic lactone compound against a resistant arthropod or nematode ectoparasites or endoparasites in a non-human mammal using the multidrug resistance reversing agents mentioned above.
