The invention relates to a process for the dry or semiwet treatment of flue gases containing sulphur compounds of the SOx type, consisting of the following steps: treating said flue gases with a reagent selected from: sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and mixtures thereof, selectively dissolving the resulting sodium sulphates in water, separating the solids remaining in suspension from the solution, and crystallizing the purified sodium-sulphate present in the above-mentioned solution. The claimed process allows the preparation of recyclable sodium sulphate.
