A drafting and condensing device comprises a drafting unit (2) which confers a predetermined draft on a roving (1) and a condensing unit (40) by effect of suction on the fibers of the roving through a movable filtering surface. The condensing unit is located downstream of the drafting unit for condensing the roving before it is delivered to the twist. A drafting and condensing device, comprises a drafting unit having pairs of rollers (30, 31) and a belt drafting unit. The belts (3, 4) are driven to impart with a given speed of rotation which confers a progressive and predetermined draft to a roving. The device has a condensing unit positioned downstream of the drafting unit for condensing the roving before it is delivered to the twist. The condensing unit has a pair of lower and upper facing members. The lower member has a fixed tubing (41) connected to a suction source and provided with a suction opening disposed along the path and in the direction the drafting roving motion with the drafting unit. On the surface of the fixed tubing is an interposed filtering element (43) constituted by a movable member. The movable member moves in the same direction as the moving drafted roving and slot (42). The upper member is a presser roller (45) for driving the movable filtering member and pressing the roving between the roller and the movable member. The roller has rotation drive to extract the roving.
