A TEST PATTERN FOR NOZZLE DETECTION HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH CAN BE DETECTED BY AN OPTICAL SENSOR LOCATED IN THE CART OF AN INK INJECTION PRINTER. BY MAKING THE SAME NOZZLE PRINT INK DROPS IN DIFFERENT PIXELS UNTIL FORMING A SINGLE TEST LINE THROUGH PAST MULTIPLE, IT IS POSSIBLE TO AUTOMATICALLY DETERMINE FROM THE RELATIONSHIP OF LIGHT CONTRACTS THAT DON'T MAKE ADAPTERLY. A GREEN LIGHT LED IS USED TO ILLUMIN THE MAGENTA, CYAN AND BLACK TEST PATTERNS DURING ITS DETECTION, AND A BLUE LED IS USED TO LIGHT THE YELLOW TEST PATTERN DURING ITS DETECTION. AN INDEPENDENT TEST PATTERN IS USED FOR THE PRINTER HEAD OF EACH COLOR. THE TEST PATTERN IS FORMED BY SIX LINES WITH FOURTY TEST LINES IN EACH ONE FOR A PRINT HEAD WITH 240 ACTIVE NOZZLES.
