Procedure for processing a viscous medium in which the medium is transported by a pump (2). The load condition of the pump is used to determine the viscosity of the medium. An Independent claim is made for a device for viscosity determination from pump loading using an ammeter (5) and a processor (7) that uses the current value to determine power used and hence determines the viscosity.
