Microporous waterproof and moisture vaporpermeable products are described which are formed froma matrix having an internal microstructure which iscoated with a hydrophobic material. A process isdescribed including the steps of (1) applying to thesurface of the matrix a liquid hydrophobic material,(2) allowing the liquid to penetrate into themicrostructure and then (3) drying, vulcanizing orcuring the product.
