ANTI-BARKING AND ANTI-BITING MUZZLE FOR DOGS

An anti-barking and anti-biting muzzle for dogs includes amuzzle portion formed from a pair of generally trapezoidal flaps ofelastic material sewn together along the converging edges thereof,with the flaps being further divided by a seam along the longitudinalcenterline thereof to create four panel members of the elasticmaterial. An elongated strap is connected at its ends to opposedseams of the muzzle portion. The muzzle can be slid onto the snout ofa dog and the strap fitted over the dog's head behind its ears. Themuzzle portion has a snug fit on the snout but the elasticity of thematerial allows the dog to open its jaws slightly for panting. If thedog tries to open its jaws wider to bark or bite the four elasticpanel members apply a force to the jaws to prevent them from openingwide. The muzzle is not uncomfortable and it acts as a training aidsince the animal associates the wearing of the muzzle as a form ofpunishment for barking or biting. It soon learns to stop barking orbiting when it event sees the muzzle. The muzzle can be quicklyremoved by applying an upward or lifting force on the strap behind theears, important if the dog is relied upon to provide security for ahuman attendant.
