A method for breaking down used materials or items,particularly wooden or motor-vehicle items, into reusablecomponents with the use of fractionating tools, with which theaccelerated parts of used material interact. The breakdown iseffected selectively through impacts, deformation tension,bending stress, friction and/or shearing, with the shape andarrangement of the fractionating tools being set and/or matchedto the structure and size of the used feed materials and/or theobtained recycled material.
